Description

Diagnostic Description

Stems up to 2 cm long, densely leaved; procumbent stems with sparse leaves, the leaves smaller than those of fertile stems, radiculose at tip. Leaves strongly crispate when dry, spreading plane when moist, the lower leaves broadly elliptic to rounded, the median leaves broadly elliptic, the apex cuspidate-pointed, decurrent at base, the upper leaves oblong to lingulate, constricted at base; margins bordered by usually 2-3 (4 in the lower part) rows of linear, thin-walled, slightly yellowish cells throughout; dentate to near leaf base, the teeth variable in size and number of cells, 3- sometimes 4-celled; costa ending below the leaf apex or percurrent. Median laminal cells elongate-hexagonal, 55-75 × 30-35 mm, thin-walled. Dioicous.
